Potential Stocking List

Hey all, I'm slowly inching towards the day I can put fish in my 90gal display tank. I'm going to pick up my first fish this weekend to get them going in my quarantine tank. Here's what my total list is, though subject to change! Was just curious what everyone thought and in what order I should get things. Will start adding corals down the road too.

-pair of occelaris clowns
-yellowhead jawfish
-watchman goby
-dwarf flame angel
-yellow tang
-royal gamma
-male lyretail anthias or ruby longfin fairy wrasse

Like I said I'm planning on picking up the first one this weekend for the quarantine tank. I was thinking the pair of clowns first? also the goby possibly? After a month of them being in quarantine, I think my DT would benefit from a goby stiring things up. But not sure if three first would be too much at once?

My buddy had a goby and a jawfish and they did not get along at all. He eventually had to take out the goby. That was in a 5ft 120. Just be watchful, it may work for you. Maybe look into the Flame Hawkfish. The flame angel and the tang should be added last.

The anthias might be a pain, with the constant food particles they need in the water all day.
Good to know, I'll probably scratch the anthias and the wrasse off this list then. Since it anthias seem to be better in a trio in a larger tank and the wrasse doesn't really appeal to me as much anymore. Will just leave that slot open.

I guess the only real reason I was thinking of getting a goby was for it to keep the sand fluffed somewhat with it's "grazing".

Will a jawfish perform a similar behavior? I would prefer to get the jawfish simply because of their personalities I've seen and read about, and just how they look. But I thought that they may be more shy and only do that sifting behavior close to their burrow....

Also, if you are going to go with a tang, I recommend a bristletooth tang. But even a 4' is pushing it for any tang IMO

So revised list time!

I narrowed it down a bit, would like some suggestions on the empty spaces (i'm sure I'll change my mind again but it's fun throwing around different stocking ideas)

Right now I have 2 ocellaris clowns in quarantine, so the rest of the still-want-list is as follows.

Royal Gamma
Pearly Jawfish
Flame Angel

So for the rest of the blanks......I'm really looking for blue fish pref. (would like at least one), if anyone has some suggestions there.

Here's ones I've been kind of bouncing around

Trio of lyretail anthias
single lyretail anthias
Trio of chromis
yellowtail damsel
yellow tang
copperband butterfly (probably a no, but it doesn't hurt to look into it more right?)
coral beauty (also probably out)
foxface

Yea would love one too, but could get 20 chromis instead.

As for chromis of course, will need constant feedings to keep 3 from dwindling to 1.

Just thought I would throw an update out there for anyone interested. I always hate these kind of threads where nobody actually says what they ended up doing and what their success was. My tank is only going on 7 months so it's a bit early to say if it's a success or not, but all the inhabitants seem happy and content so far.

I have the following, with the last one just being added this week. All the rest have been added in; to roughly 1-2 a month. I don't plan on adding anything else unless someone dies.

(2) Ocellaris Clownfish
(1) Two Spot Bristletooth Tang
(1) Royal Gramma
(1) Diamond Watchman Goby
(3) Indian Ocean Anthias

and the latest and last addition:

(1) Yellowtail Damsel - So far he's been very timid, hoping he will be ok since everyone else is pretty bossy.

Most recent pic, things are going good in my opinion. Getting some nice growth on the corals!

My current fish occupants are:

2 clowns
1 Bonsai Coral Beauty
3 Indian Ocean Lyretail Anthias
1 Royal Grama
1 Two Spot Bristletooth Tang
1 Yellowtail Damsel

Happy with the fist list, the last one put in was the Coral Beauty and that's been at least two months now. Funny how it changed compared to my original list. The only one I've lost was the Goby....I'm pretty sure there was a "mining" accident and he got buried. That or he jumped out and cats ate him.....

The one thing in there that I just haven't seen happy is the toadstool coral. It was completely happy when I first put it in there but for most of the summer; I've yet to see it completely open. It gets the little nubs but I havent seen them feather out/open.

If you like a splash of color, you can try Talbot Damsels. I have two clients with 5 in their tanks. Model fish imo. Not aggressive like most damsels.
