I understand, the acrylic weld is harder to get a hold of, so, here is how i did it. I cut small strips, about 1 inch wide, length is unimportant, 3 inches or so. after you caulk in your baffle, take 4 of these strips and put them vertically on either side of the baffle on both sides, it will keep it in place even with water pressure, the acrylic tends to bend too much for silicone to hold it and then pulls apart, this helps that, now if you plan on having multiple baffles close together, like a bubble trap, then cut the strips as wide as you will want your baffles apart...in my case i usually do 1".
It usually does not stick for long, and many years ago I did like teneseebob did and it did hold for a while, but slowly began to fail, silicone turned ugly yellow.
For what you put into paying for material and building do yourself a favor and use weldon, it's really super easy to work w/.
+1
Silicone will not adhere long term to acrylic. Use the right product for job and get ahold of some weldon or the equivalent. Any plastics shop should have it, but if they don't, you can get it online from TAP Plastics, eplastics, amazon, etc.
Hey nothing wrong w/ making do and like I said I had done the same thing once, but yeah, now days it's so easy and fast to get what we need to do it better.
I don't even think it takes 2 days to have weldon on your porch, and it's not expensive.
