Angel*Fish
cats and large squashes
My pet peeve
I couldn't even read this whole thread because once I saw someone was putting 2 Centropyges in a 30 (and a cube at that) I just started to sizzle. People who want to do that and won't listen are a big part of the reason I quit going out here (out of the RC lounge).
I had a pair of flames, a pygmy, and a Herald's all in a 100g long. But my rock was free standing and designed specifically for the purpose of making the angels happy. None of the normal+ sized Centropyges should be in anything less than a 55g. Thirty is too small for one fish, let alone two. Inexperienced reefers often lack the ability to recognize a stressed fish.
After I watched the Centropyges in a 40,000 g tank, I got to see how a truly relaxed one appears. And I promise you it's different from how it acts in a 30g.
I used to help people sex, pair and successfully combine multiple dwarf angels in their tanks and some listened and appreciated it - others simply refused to listen and thought they knew more than someone with years of experience.
These fish, like tangs, are grazers and need to have an area to range in.
