Potters gets along with Regal?

Need quick helper.. getting my Yellow Belly Regal Juvi tomorrow..

The tank is 120G with a 2" purple tang, two 2" occi clowns, and a 3.5" potters angel. I introduced the purple tang about 3 weeks ago and potters chased him a few times that I could notice but that was it. They seem to get along fine.

I've had issues with introducing other angels in the tank with another potterse angel.

The Regal is 2". Do you think potters will chase and harass the regal?

I thought about making a wall using eggcrate but my rock structure will make it very hard to divide the tank.

Thoughts?

In the long run they will be fine together, but get some eggcrate handy!

I am 90% certain that your potters will harass the new little regal. I would divide the tank and let them get used to each other over time. I did this with my Bandits and it worked great.

My experience with Potter's Angel has been that they can make it difficult on new tangs and smaller angels. The Regal Angel I have in a 125g was very shy and let a larger Purple Tang bully it constantly until I added a Black Velvet and Eibl's. Now everyone coexists with very minimal chasing.

The Potter's is an AWESOME fish, but be prepared for a lot of constant aggression at least initially.

What ended up happening? Was your regal harassed a lot?

I added the potters after the regal. IME when mixing any angels, especially
when one is already established, there will be fighting. Its alot easier to watch
for the aggression subside when one is in an iso box. It's a real PIA to try and
catch the regal once it's in the display. I use a critter keeper. I just wouldn't chance it with such a nice regal.

I added my potter 1 week after my yellow Tang, after 2 weeks the potter got comfortable and beat my Tang after to death one night, came back home after my bike ride and my Tang is no where to be found. Still searching for the body after 3 weeks.

IMO, regal should be QT'd (at minimum, divide the DT) so you can watch it, and be sure it's eating, and doing good. They don't do well if they're harassed!

Cool. I made a divider in my DT which is a little smaller than 1/3 of the tank. It was a really good fit. I used egg crate and cut 1/2" flex tube to go around the egg crate so it doesnt scratch the glass. Should be easy to catch if something bad observed.

I do have a separate QT but I'm afraid a delicate fish like that shouldn't be in a bare bone QT. The water and rock structure in my DT is much better. Since its LA and Kev's own tank I think he should be okay.

Eggcrate is plastic and will not scratch your glass, I have used it many times in my Elos systems.

I just received the LA package.. well packed but the water is a little cold. Even after floating the bag for 15 mins, the water measured to 74'.

He is alive but floating sideways which I don't really like.. Doing drip right now.

I put him in the tank and he's no longer swimming sideways.. looks good so far. I will try to feed him later this afternoon, see if he bites.. He's so small and cute...

A quick update... I had the tank divided into two sections so that the regal could adapt to the tank enviornment... The potters angel was on the other side of the tank. The regal was real shy at first but started eating the 2nd day.. Now he is eating like a pig.

Since he seem to be doing pretty well, I removed the divider. Immediately, I noticed the potter darting after the precious regal... The regal ended up hiding in a few rocks for a full day... He started getting braver and now he swims out in the open. Once in a while potter will dart at home but regal is so fast he just swims a few inches away and then practically dares potter to go after him again.

He is still eating well and doesn't seem to be bothered by the potters anymore. I think this is going to work out well. Potter doesnt seem to mind the regal much either.
