Powder blue and ICH

I have a Powder Blue Tang that I have had for in my display for about 3 weeks now after a short QT. The fish looked very healthy and was eating well at the LFS. In QT, same thing. I then put it in a 210g with a somewhat nasty Purple tang, Hippo tang, Rabbit Fish. The PT had tormented 2 previous rabbit fish to death. I was hoping there would be no problem with the PBT. For the first couple of days the PT was relentless chasing the PBT. The PBT would come out to eat but quickly be chased back to the corner.

After the first week all settled down but I saw 5-6 small ICH looking places on the PBT. I picked up some KICK ICH or ICH KICK, had heard good stories about it, ICH and the reef, expecting a major outbreak the following day. It actually looked better so I did nothing. Now after nearly 10 more days the PBT eats like a horse, always picking at the rocks, holds his own against the larger Hippo tang, avoids the PT but for the most part stays his ground............now after the long story.........

The PBT still has what appears to be ICH in different areas daily, never very bad, some days a few more spots than others and it never has appeared on any of the other fish. I am running a 25w UV, have been for the past several months - any ideas? Could it be ICH and he is fighting it off naturally?

Yes it sounds like ICH to me. I would take him out and hypo him if you really care about him. He may fight it off but it a risk. I took the risk and ich took out my whole tank.

I know my powder blue came down with ich for the first month I had him. That was ten months ago. The ich mysteriously went away and never came back.

I am tempted to let it ride. I have had no luck with dips or other treatments and catching him would be all but impossible. He is eating very well, no longer timid so I am hoping it will pass but just hoping to hear a similar story from someone else, such as JENnKerry.

if it's just a few spots i kick-ich for 2 weeks, garlic for 3... if it's infestation you're waaaay better off removing (using trap methods described on this site). kick-ich i also do 50% more than recommended dosage, has worked well but i dont think it's meant for infestations, just small outbreaks of maybe 1-2 fish in a tank.
