I'm constantly surprised by just how much bad practice is encouraged/perpetuated by reefing enthusiasts, but this problem is hardly limited to amateurs. I was given Marine Aquariums for Dummies for Christmas (a cruel joke?), and was appalled to read that the author recommended stocking "one inch of fish to two gallons of water" and that a 40 gallon tank could hold "a queen angel...two clownfish (and others)". Ethics/health aside, I also find that you can miss individual personalities in a heavily-stocked tank: fish are even more fun to watch when they're not chasing each other around the tank or hiding underneath rocks. :)

Negative people in general bother me. Before my post you had three negative posts. Instead of saying, "I predict disaster", and making a smart *** comment like "no quarantine, good luck", why not contribute somthing helpful?

Negative? None of my comments were meant to be negative . And you apparently missed everyone else's comments.. I didn't say anything more negative than anyone else. Most here try to steer people into being more responsible and unfortunately it sometimes appears people are being rude. But if we didn't care, we wouldn't respond. Notice my comment on how I was worried this would end up a lot of work and wasted money for him? The original poster of this thread has taken this very well so I am not sure why you are getting so bent out of shape..

BTW,
I looked through this thread, I am sorry but I missed your bit of helpful information...do you have any or are you just wanting to pick an argument with me?
 
There must be a full moon coming up because I've read three or four threads in the past 1/2 hour and in every one of them there's two people being silly and arguing. Calm down, for God's sake! Stop picking on each other and move on!

Yes that's right, I took the plunge today and gave in when my LFS told me complete your tank with 6 different species of Tangs...

I now have the Tomini Tang, Cheveron Tang, Kole Tang, Blue Tang, Yellow Tang, and Mr Powder Blue Tang.

He's my favorite, as he appears to be the most graceful of the tank; he's also the largest so no one said anything when he came to the family.

These are semi-large videos so be patient !!! It is worth the wait....

Do you plan on upgrading to a bigger tank ?
Looks like you've got a nice group of Chromis in the tank as well .

I'd have to agree that the odds are against you, however there are the lucky few and maybe you are one of them.

It is a very nice looking tank.

I don't think it is compleatly outragous. I have a book (ultimate marine aquariums) where a guy has kept 17 angel fishes in one 300 g. tank and 14 of them were large angels. he has kept them for 8 years and the tank is clearly overstocked with aggressive fish. the agression is somewhat diffused that way and no one fish gets picked on. its like there is so many enimies every where it confusing which one to pursue. it will be interesting to see if you can keep tham long term like this. good luck. I think you need a little.
 
I hope Mike comes back because I think he has a beautiful tank. He might have a 75g sump and massive skimmer, he might be religious with water changes, we don't know. It works for him, GL Mike
