Powder Blue Tang Help/Question

I recently bought a Powder Blue tang and he's finally starting to eat and pick algae off the rocks/glass, but it only stays in the bottom half of the tank. It's only been about 4-5 days so I'm hoping it's just acclimating. Does anyone else experience this? Is this normal? If so, anyone have suggestions for another fish that can go in the tank with this fish and some Lyretail Anthias to help with the top of the tank?

PBT are very tough fish to keep, they don't come in the best of shape and a lot of them have problems. One of the problems is swimming in the same place or swimming around and around in the same circle. Also check out it's eyes and see if they're moving back and forward. This is a problem and some times they come out of it and some times they don't. PBT stress out very easy, I would just give it time and see how it's doing. Feed it some nori sheet, formular II & flake food to get it eating more. Try and keep the tank quite until the PBT settles in.

One other important thing I didn't see that you quaratine the PBT. PBT are know to be ich magnents and should be quaratine as should all your new fish.

Thank you for the feedback. He doesn't seem to exhibit any of the items you mentioned. Eyes, swimming in one spot, ich. Actually comes out to the glass when he sees me as long as I didn't rush up to the tank. He grazes all over the place, just below midline in the tank. He's starting to show interest in the food the other fish are eating, but no interest in the Nori sheets or flakes yet. I'll give him some more time to adjust. Was just hoping he'd take care of the entire tank, and not just the bottom half. :D Beautiful fish though. Hope it does well. It's replacing a White Cheek that I had for about a year. Had some sudden die off of some sponge that I didn't catch in time and he died. :(
