Powder blue tang in a 90 gal

Hi guys. I just upgraded to a 90 gal tank from my old 33 gal system. I'd love to get some new fish to help fill up the empty space. I've alwais loved powder blue tangs, and i think one would be a great addition to my tank. I've been doing some reading on them and i do have a few conserns, so i thought i would ask the pro's (you guys).

Anyhoo, i have a yellow tang, two tomato's and 2 green chromis for fish right now, allong with a cleaner shrimp and varoiuse snails and crabs for livestock. I've never hada disease putbreak. not so many corals yet, but i do have a BTA. I should also mention that i would like to make this tank an SPS tank.
I don't really think overcrowding will be a problem as this will likely be the last fish i add.

My tank has verry stong waterflow (close loope driven by a dart through an OM 4 way) I've read that UV sterilization is a good idea to have if keeping a PBT's but i don't plan on using UV as i would like to go with the zeovite method.

I can't seem to think of anything ells i should mention, but do you think i can give a PBT a good home?

They really need atleast a 6ft tank though some people have kept them for a good while in a 90 gal i just wouldnt recomend it. They are also very delicate fish and the yellow could give it a hard time when first introduce. Though alot of people keep these two tangs together with no problems at all.

If your set on adding another tang you could try a kole tang. It be a good idea If you have a place to put the yellow tang for a few days to a week while the kole get used to its new environment.

my yellow and pbt never really did see eye to eye but the sailfin would always put them in place. and pbts are very active and would do better in a long tank

i'lll see what the guys at the LFS have to say. i deffinatly want another tang, or perhaps a butterfly fish or something. something with lots of personality and color

yeah with the PBT odds are wouldnt do well in that tank. THey are easily stressed, the kole would be awesome, and there are a ton of butterflys that would do great in the 90. remember one thing about the LFS, not all of them are truly looking out for the customer. if its one you trust then ok. people on this board arent out to make money so they will give you good advice most of them.

Yes I think a PBT would be to crowded in a 90 gallon. You could always do a Copper Band Butterlfy.

my lfs is great. they probaby spend more time talking me out of buying certain fish than talking me into it. i like kole tangs and sailfin tangs aswell. i also have a thing for long nose butterfly's. i'm keep doing my reading. thanks guys

The only problem i see is hoping your yellow tang will let you have another fish. Longnose butterflys are very sensitive to aggressive fish they really needed to be one of first fish added. Your salfin tang would also get to big for your 90. The copper band is the same as the longnose yet more delicate and i've heard alot of yellow tangs not getting along with copperbands. Maybe move your yellow tang to the sump/fuge area if possible?

well i was thingking what i would do is do the quarantine with the new fish, whatever it may be, then swap the yellow tang for the new fish and put him in hte QT for a liitle while while the new fish adjusts then put them together

i have a CBB with yellow tang and never had a problem, they dont even pay attention to one another.

I used to have a copper band with my purple tang and they were fine. Then my anenome ate my copper band

i've got a BTA that wont stop splitting, i'm going to have to give away its progeny before the same thing happens to me!
