Powder Blue Tang with Rippled sides HELP

ok quick break down.... Got my PBT and a little yellow tang on sunday. put them both into QT with a salinity of 1.020. They started eating (nori, macro, brine etc) within a day. Happy health looking fish. PBT breaks out in ich. but still eating. Today (six days later) my little yellow fish is healthy this morning and just lays down and dies tonight. So now down to one tang with ich.

He has also had these "Ripples" on his sides. They are not his ribs, and he eats like a pig. Can someone help me identify the problem? I've been feeding him the medicated garlic..focus....Metronidazole cocktail in his food, but the ich has gotten worse and so has the ripples. So I want to just use copper but I don't know what to do at this point? Continue cocktail because of an internal parasite or start copper for ich.

he needs more "fat" on him.. try giving him some zoacon, selcon, or mysis

I've beend giving him selcon soaked everything. and medicated brine shrimp

thaw the food.. them mix all together and re-freeze... feed as needed..

that will fatten him up and make him look better

Well, I'm not too worried about him looking better, he's got ich all over him....I'm more worried about how to treat the ich properly....he's eating like a pig so eventually he'll get fatter. I just don't want him to die of ich first. I need to know if starting copper will be bad.

I just had a similar experience with a 4" blue tang (hippo) - i bought it from my LFS ($75) - just got in from the wholesaler - got it home - acclimated for almost 2hrs and was eating like a pig for the 2-5 days he (?) was with us - on the 6th day, i found him behind some rockwork stiff and DRT (dead right there) - his sides were also rippled like your's are right about where the start of the ventral fin is on your picture - NO Ich present on him either at purchase or upon death - needless to say my LFS didnt stand behind their product (3 day warranty - which from what ive been reading is actually pretty good for a LFS) & a slip for 30% off my next fish purchase - woo-hoo

I'm glad you are trying to help, but please re read the first post. The fish is IN QT. He is eating like a PIG. I'm not worried about it being skinny, the ripples are not his ribs. He has a big pot belly from eating all day. He's covered in ich, and his skin is rippled. I'm trying to figure out if it is an internal parasite that I need to keep medicating for or if I should ignore the ripples and start treating the ich with copper. I can't medicate while treating with copper. So right now I need to see which is the lesser of the two evils.

maybe the fish were caught with arsnic method. the fish will look healthy and eat but can't digest the food.
