My lfs got in the healthiest PBT that I have seen..So I took a chance. Put him directly in the display to prevent from stressing him more in qt experience. Of coarse ick showed up for about three weeks. I kept it well fed with Nori , prime reef, Mysis, and Formula II soked in garlic extreme. I not saying it was the garlic that cured him but it made him eat enough and fatten up to fight it off. None of the other tank mates were affected by the ick. It's been three months with no more out breaks. Thats my story.lol

Ok, Ok, this is the one 100% successful discovery I've made in this hobby/obsession:

Ich can be treated on all fish, especially tanks, by mincing cloves of garlic into a cup, adding a little water (and fish food if you want) and pouring into the tank. repeat daily. Feed as normal.

For my 120 gallon, two big cloves the first day, then one or two normal cloves every day for 5-14 days. I use a garlic press.

none of the garlic "juices" mentioned above worked, so I tried this and stumbled onto success.

I'd also do a few water changes during this time.

LFS, which has since burned down, had never heard of it -

And Nori is highly suggested. Daily.

Did you try garlic extreme ?

I discovered using minced garlic before I ever saw or heard of Garlic Extreme. I did buy GE once, though, and it seemed to help as well, but not better than the raw garlic supplement, IMO. I used a small bottle completely and the fish still had some bumps, ich wasn't gone. Under control, but not gone. So i didn't buy another bottle, and finished medicating with minced raw garlic, and that finished off the ich.

I am not saying in any way that Garlic Extreme doesn't work. I have heard many reports that it does well, and everyone should give it a try, I bet if i bought another bottle it would have knocked out the ich. but IMO, nothing is better than just mincing some garlic from the kitchen.

But that's just me. I'd rather use homemade remedies that to purchase a product from The Man.
