Powder Brown Tang Help!?

Hey my powder brown seems to eat all the time. He overpowers some of the other fish for food. So i put a seaweed strip in the tank and attached it to the wall. He hasn't touched it all day long. Is there anything else I could do? He just wont stop eating everything!

How old is your tank? If it is relatively new it may not have a sustainable amount of algae for your tang to feed on. Tangs spend their entire day grazing on algae from the rocks they pick at. So if your pbt has no algae to eat he must be starving. That is probably why he goes buck wild when you feed the tank.

The tank is about 8 months old!

Try soaking the Nori in garlic juice. You can get Kent or brightwells garlic extreme or you can even use real garlic juice. It acts like an appetite stimulant.

FWIW not all tangs will graze the rocks and even ones that are known too may still not do it. My Vlamingii could care less about algae on the rocks or glass but put in a sheet of nori and watch out.

How many times a day do you feed your tank?
If it is only once your tang may not be getting as much food as he wants.
