powder brown tang question

I just transfered a powder brown tang into my reef tank the other day after it had be in quaranteen. It got caught in the net during transfer and got a sore by its mouth. It appeared red for a day and now several days later is sort of fuzzy looking.
Is there anything I should do to help it heal? Will this go away or will it get infected and take out the fish?
I've put some medicated flake food in the mix food slop that I fed through out the day, but not sure if thats going to help at all.

Any suggestions....thanks

Get some pennicillan

I don't know how well the stuff (pills) at the LFS will work, but I used the Live Refrigerated stuff, 10,000 units per liter. Wait a day water change and do it again.

Fish is fine now. If left untreated it could go either way.

Most likely a bacteria.

Best to do this in a Quarantine tank, as some of the good bacteria will be killed also if you treat the main tank.

Thanks for your advice. I've started treated the reef with melafix. I'm going to treat four days and see .....
Getting the fish out of the tank would be an effort I won't win. Some one in our local club has a trap that he said i can use but he hasn't replied back to my last PM. Oh well.
Hopefully this melafix works. the fish is very strong, active & eats like a pig at this point.
Keep your fingers crossed!
Thanks
