has anyone had an pbt pick at clams. I am not sure if he was going for algae or the mantel . I also saw my half black mimic pick at star p when it is closed .

Mine eats algae off of anything i would say that he wasnt going for the clam

I have a 5 " squamosa in with my pb tang and he does not bother with it at all.

i've got the same thing, likely it was going for algae. is this a one time thing?

Yes. it is the one time I have seen. It is always picking at algea but he was hitting the clam hard enough to close it for a few hours. maybe I am just overly worried .

If he was biting at the clam and it closed up and he continued to bite at the shell when the mantle was no longer exposed, I'd be reasonably sure that he was just going after algae building up on the shell.
