Power Compact Fl. Lighting Question

Hi I attempted this question a few days back but didn't get any responses. I am trying again.

I have a coralife power compact fluorescent lighting system and am wondering what my restrictions would be for coral keeping. Thanks

The light specs are

Coralife 36 Inch Aqualight W/ 2-96W Sq. (1 10,000K and 1 96 watt True Actinic 03 Blue) Pin Base And 2-3/4W Lunar Blue-Moon-Glow LED Lamps

These are over a 46 gallon aquarium. I have a pic of the setup in my gallery. Thanks!

well you are at 4.6 gallons a watt ... i didnt get the depth of the tank which can make some difference... but really ou should be okay to keep most anything. sps, would have to be placed up top.. other than that lps and softies are fine .. i keep sps and lps in less lighting than that.. it's just about where they are placed and making sure your chemicals and conditions are right..

How deep is the tank?

I would replace the other Actinic with a 10K so you have 2x96w 10K's and have more PAR. I've kept softies with this exact lighting setup with great success.. my tank was 20" deep.

tank depth

The tank depth is 18" plus or minus, I do have about a 3-4 inch sand bed. Is there a need for Actinic lighting. IF I were to do away with it and go with another 10,000k lamp would I be losing something that the Actinic provides?

I have the 10,000k and blue actinic on my 54 Gal. corner tank and have had good results with soft corals. My green stars and hairy mushrooms are multiplying like crazy. I have the actinic come on first then the 10,000. Looks like sunrise/sunset.

The actinics just give the tank a bluer look that most people prefer. They are not necessary and the 10000K lights will provide more usable light for the corals
