Power Failures and APEX Programing

I'm in the process of setting up my APEX controller, and I've got a question regarding settings and power failure. I've noticed that all my settings seem to revert back to default if the APEX has been without power for an extended period of time. I travel a lot for work, and I'd like to automate my tank as much as possible so my wife doesn't need to worry about it as much as she is now.

This is a bit troubling, since an extended power failure essentially makes my APEX pointless. Is there a way to save a new set of default settings besides the factory setting? I realize there is a way to save settings and re-load them, but it is difficult to do this from hundreds of miles away. It seems the only way to prevent this by using a UPS that provides power to the APEX base unit.

Thanks!

This should not happen. What's an 'extended period of time' - how long?

More than 2-3 hours. My experiment essentially consisted of programming all my settings, saving them on the unit and a copy on my computer, and then unplugging the EB8 - removing all power from the unit. I'd plug the EB8 back in, and the user name and password to log into the unit reverted to admin and 1234. The DHCP server was also turned back on (The default setting). Since I use DynDNS, I don't want it turned on.

I was just doing some more reading, and it looks like the APEX base unit has an internal rechargeable battery that keeps the internal clock up to date. Possibly the settings as well? Maybe my battery hasn't fully charged yet?

OK, Haven't had a chance to contact them yet on the phone, but it looks like the only settings that aren't coming back are the network settings. DHCP keeps turning back on, and the port is changing from 1080 back to 80. Anyone else have this issue?

Cant help as i dont have the unit yet but Im guessing from the travel you might be an airline pilot like me :- ) makes it challenging. The vortech's are great because of the battery backup supply for power failures. but even then dont cover a 4 day trip unless you can hook two or more in series which i think is possible?

Settings are store in non-volitile memory (it doesn't need power to be maintained). If settings are being reset I suspect that you may have an old firmware; there was a locking bug way back that could cause memory corruption that would then result in the Apex going into a recovery mode ans resetting setting. If you are all up to date then I'd suggest contacting Neptune; email at support@neptunesys.com.

The issue seemed to go away after upgrading to 4.04_BC10. Everything seems to be working flawlessly now, regardless of how long the unit is without power.
