Power plug on 3155

My plug doesn't seem to go all the way in.If I move the power cord it cuts off and on and pumps water for 15 seconds. The silver part of the plug sticks out almost half way.

Most likely the issue is the inner positive on the power tip has corroded, it should be shiny nickel plate just like the outer negative shell. If it is plugged in at the wall and lands in salt water the + will corrode almost instantly, it is essentially reverse electroplating it in that case. It is normal for them to stick out partially.

I looked inside with a flashlight and magnifying glass and it is clean.I just watched brs and the one he plugged in went all the way in.

On the newest ones they do as the socket was changed, I had assumed this was an older one. Prior to 2012 the power supply and socket were different and it was normal for a couple mm to extend past the box. This photo illustrates what we are looking for and the most probable cause.

The photo illustrates the corrosion, not the length. The bottom one has the corrosion that causes them to be very sensitive and break contact. Any more info on the age of the unit will help narrow this down and find a solution but the tip protruding is not the cause.

From what I can see by zooming in on the photo the controller is the pre 2012 style which has a rectangular cut out in the housing and the socket is on a rectangular plastic base. On the newer design the housing just has a hole drilled in it and the socket is fully recessed behind the hole, no protrusion on the bottom of the controller box. It would be normal for the power to protrude as it does. This style socket can be adjusted, if you open the controller and bend the pin slightly toward the spring in the right it will increase the tension on the contact.
