Power supply for stunner strip question

I recently got a 36" ecoxotic 445nm blue stunner strip, 18watts 24v It did not have the power supply, so I went to RadioShack to see what they had. I found a 25.2 VAC transformer, 450mA, is this something that I can hook up to the this specific stunner strip? (This one: http://www.radioshack.com/radioshac...-xformer/2731366.html#q=chassis+mount&start=2 ) I only know the info above...

From what I know about basic electricity this transformer would put out 10.8 watts, as long as there was no restriction from the wall to the transformer (like a dimmer)

I know the srtip puts out 18w, so would the LEDs just be dimmer than normal? Kind of like if I had a dimmer switch set at about half way?

If none of this makes sense please just say I'm an idiot and it won't work lol Then I'll just order the correct one, but if I can make this work for $15 then great!

i don't think that will work. the strip needs 24 volts, and if it is using 18 watts at 24V, that means it wants 0.75 amps. your supply cannot provide that, so it will not be able to keep up. it is not smart to try to use a radioshack product at more current than it is designed for. who knows if it will safely drop voltage or just start a fire.

so what you need is a 24V driver that is rated over 0.75 amps. probably at least 1A to be safe. i bet you could use the search and find a good source.

Thanks! That's what I was looking for, someone to show me the end I'm not seeing of this all. I'll do some digging and prob just order the one that supposed to be on this.
