Powerhead and return pump question

So I'm confused u say u want to upgrade ur power head but then talk about getting ur sump up and running. U want recommendations for power head or pump for ur sump pump?
I have dead quiet external pump if u r talking about a pump for ur sump

Well power heads r all about budget first off. Lowest end maxi jet modded then koralia, then tunze then vortech. U get what u pay for.
My return pump I have is a just copy and pasted from marine depot

Depends on what you are keeping as to how much flow you want as well. I used a Mag 18 in my 46 gallon bowfront (about the same measurements of your 50 gallon I believe) and also had an Vortech MP10 in it as well, but that is because I like having a lot of current. While the Mag drives are convenient (submersible), they aren't as quiet, nor as flexible as having an out of pump sump.

Yes flow is most about what life u r planning on keeping in the tank. I have a 4 ft. 120 gal and have an mp40 4,000 gph mp10 2,000 gph 2 magnum #5 2,000 gph each and a small koralia 600 gph and my return pump is on 2 one inch sea swirls 2,500 gph these values where all rounded off but I'm moving a crazy amount of water in my system but it is sps tank with bare bottom so requires a lot of flow. No dead spots.
10,600 powerheads almost 90 times turn over and my return pump is 20 times turn over. My system is not the norm by the way.
Most people go with 3-10 times turn over for a return pump and as far as power heads about 10 times turn over per hour is I believe what is a basic recommendation.

I have a QuietOne 4000 I'm probably going to sell so I can put the money tword a new return pump with a smaller footprint.
I LOVE my QO4000, but the new sump has a tiny pump section and it wont fit. Less than a year old with the box and all accessories except the tiny rubber domes that it had on the bottom, they were hard and transmitting some vibration so I put a rubber mat underneath. I may be able to find them (will be tricky, they are about the size of pencil erasers)

Thanks for all the info, I feel much more informed now. That velocity sounds perfect for my application. Im running softies, lps, and just got a few montis and a stylo to test the waters. I just have an aquaclear 70 ph right now, and everything appears to be doing well so far. Also running a deep sandbed right now. How much difference does that make in this situation?

Deep sand bet just like any send bed try to aim the flow so not to disturbed the sand.. that's one main reason I go barebottom

Not so much visual even as a deep sand bed helps turn mutated into a gas and remove it from ur tank. There is a lot of info on deep sand beds benifuts and cons do a search u will finger hours of reading
