Powerheads!

In June 2016 I bought a jecod cp40 ( maxspect gyre knockoff) and thepp15 jebao powerhead. They pushed A LOT of water for sure.
I sent back the jecod back in late August. 2-3 months? Really? It just stopped. Nothin'!
Amazon was super cool and gave me I think 80% back when I sent the unit back.
Now the pp15 crapped out. Well, it works but it's intermittent.
I had been using the SUNSUN models which are not adjustable for years. I can get a couple years out of those. The heaps break down.
Does anybody else have this issue with their jebao's.

Yes.. many have had the CP series crap out on them..
For me though the PP series has been rock solid..
In general Jebaos/Jecod (same company) are kind of known for their "first generation" products being crap but after that they seem to get their act together..

The WP series of powerheads were quite failure prone. but the RW/PP have been reliable..

I'd pull the PP apart and clean it out well and see how it goes..

I forgot to mention. I have cleaned the PP a few times. The magnet doesn't seem strong. I'm almost wondering if it could use another impeller but,I think 4-5 months replacing impellers is still premature. I really do like the unit. I'm just annoyed.

I was rather happy with my pair of RW8s and the 15 I had for a while. Frankly I miss the 8s for smaller tanks (I ran 2 in my 40B and they did awesome). The pair of 4s I have in my desktop tank here at work are going on 3 years of running solid (purchase Feb 2014).

If you really are annoyed, take the plunge and look for some used Tunze pumps. You won't regret it. I took my 75 down but absolutely will not be selling my set of 6105s and 6065s for the next build. I love 'em. Worth every penny.

I am done with cheap pumps and powerheads (especially the Jebao's, but also Rio's) - have had too many fail in short order over the years, and to expect otherwise now would be foolish of me.

The Tunze's (and Sicce's) I have have proven to be failure free for some time now...

The only issue I had with my RW's was the stock controllers won't stay in sync. Bought a JB wave controller and all is good. Always in sync now and the ramping feature is ultra cool. Very happy now. Pumps going on three years strong.

The pumps work great except for that..
