im in the middle of still setting up my 125 reef tank and was wondering what would be the best kind of powerheads to go with. besides TUNZE. something a lil bit cheaper. thanks

I'd do 4 maxijet mods and/or a closed loop. Especially if the tank is dry right now it would be really easy to have drilled.

i got a 125 a new mj mods high flow is almost to much honestly i took one out and added a seio 2600 it has less flow than mj mod

Wow 4 mods.. I don't know if I would do them all High flow.. But I would be willing to try 2 High, and 2 low flow mods.

I really would like to see what these things can do on the Maxijet wave maker. I have my stopper so close to the prop that I think I could pull it off with out a problem..

depends on what you are trying to keep, I am running two mjmods, two cut shroud maxijet 1200's on a wavemaker and a Seio 1500 and I have a Karalia 4 on order. Sps loves the flow.

Not sure about all High flow either, but you should see Roy's tank at home! He has the two Seio 1500's and two MJ Mods, high flows I believe. It is hilarious watching his fish surfing the streams back and forth.

Gotta admit though, everything in his tank seems happy...

:D :D

I don't know how he keeps the sand down.. I have about 39-40x turn over, and have a heck of a time with the sand.. But I do want more flow, I don't feel I have quite have enough just yet.. I think the Wave maker would make the difference.. Alternating the flow instead of the same flow all the time.

I keep playing with different combinations of powerheads but I think I have found the setup, the Koralia should be the last one needed. The two cut shroud maxi's on the wavemaker bust up the flow pretty well and keep it more random. My Southdown has been pushed to each end of the tankand behind the rockwork. :D
