Powerheads

Hi folks,

I'm setting up my 55 gallon. FOWLR

I want to buy the Hydor Koralia but I do not know which one I need. Everyone is telling me I need 2 of them.

Which model do I need?

a couple of 3s would be good for a reef or 1 2 and 1 3 may be ok, if fish only maybe 2 2s but id go with 2 3s

FOWLR? I would say just get enough to keep detritus from settling on the bottom. Maybe 2 K 2's.

get tunze 6025 and get some1 to mod them, its MUCH better flow than k's and its just alittle bit more

ive got a 6025 and your right its a good powerhead, it is a lovely bit of kit, and perhaps a better alternative, however should louisiana want koralias then 2 2s for fish only or 2 3s would do, i do like the tunzes though

Tunzes are great, plus they have great customer service. Koralia is making me pay shipping to replace there power head that busted in less than a year and shocked the **** out of me. Tunze replaces parts no questions asked and they ship to you for free. Something to consider in the long run.

Well Tunze better ship it for free because you paid 3 times extra for what that powerhead should have cost.

you get what you pay for!!!

I have Tunze in the display and K#3's in the frag tank so I know first hand.

I would get 2 of the Koralia 2s.

I would say 2 - Koralia #3's

You won't need a ton of flow, but honestly the Koralia's are pretty weak, and 2 - #3's definitely won't be too much. Plus the cost should be pretty darn close.

FWIW... I used to run 2 - #3's in my 55g FOWLR tank.

i would get more smaller ones. i have 2 #4's in my 75 and it does not give me much options for directing flow

i would say spend the extra money and go tunzes! you will be glad you did when u decide to go reef, and i promise you will!!
