Powers Out

My power just went out 15 minutes ago's, this is the first time I have had this happen since I set my 150 gallon tank up. How long until I need to start worring about my tank being impacted???

oh yeah, I only have 2 clowns and a rbta and a green carpet for livestock. I also have a couple polyp rocks as well. The good news is myh sump didnt over flow.

I dont have an air pump but I might be able to rig up an extension cord to a dc/ac convertor when the rain stops. I just need to find out if it will run my main pump.

If you cannot get the main pump going just put a powerhead in the tank. You just need some water movement.
Just curious.... if your power is out, how are you posting here?

You have about 15 minutes until you should worry..... Actually, if you can run a small powerhead for gas exchange you'll be fine for awhile. If not, a battery powered bubbler will work.

Ok, just kidding on the time. Depends on your bioload. If you have a 55 with a couple of fish.... You should be good for a couple hours. Don't sweat it too much. If you have many fish, they could start croaking off any time. Saltwater does not have the O2 cap that fresh has.
I had a power outage and my 55 had 3 or 4 tangs, around 3 to 4". They were fine for 2 hours when the power came back on. Never dug out the bubbler. Well, started to dig out because the fish started swimming strange, but the power came back on.

yeah, you should be ok for a while. In a pinch you can also siphon out water in to a bucket and pour it back in. That should buy some time.

That fast?, I was reluctant to run the wire in the rain but maybe I will have to...
NO! thats not true , 24 hrs w/o power I would worry. Keep an eye on your temp. very critical!
Take all the hood , glass tops, wide open for better gas exchange. Better yet bat. oper. air pump is best for this incedence.
