PPE head falling off...

Has this ever happened to you? It is as if the polyp can't close properly anymore and just starts deteiorating...Will a new head grow under the old decaying head? The other 4 heads are doing fine but this one seems to be losing it.

sorry no pics as of right now but I think this happens often. But why? any suggestions?

This is the reason I add Vitamin C to my tanks now. No more melting polyps!

If the head melts and falls off, I don't think a new one will grow under the decaying one.

Might grow from the remaining mat though, if it gets healthy.
