Just got a few polyps. To get the best coloration where should I place these low or high light? I run a 150W 14K Phoenix with 2 x 54W actinics.

Thanks.

I would likely start it near the bottom and work it up. I do that for most corals, unless I know where it came from. Ask the person you got it from where they had it in the tank and under what kind of lights. That is always a good starting point. With a 58 gallon (I'm assuming somewhere between 17-22" tall) with a 150 HQI, you can probably start around the top of the lower 1/3 with no issues. Mine are in the sand and are turning brown. That is under 250W DE AB 10K's and VHO's, though. They've never had color under these lights...

I almost always start any zoas on the bottom and work my way up every couple of days to give them chance to acclimate.. it's also a good idea to find out what lighting they came from as starting point.. :)

good luck and give us some photos when you can.. btw, mine are still on the bottom of a 18" depth tank under 250w MH SE...

I would put them somewhere they will be shaded from direct mh lighting. If you put them where the mh lights shine directly on them they will get white speckles in the purple.
