Practicing taking photos of corals

For a long time I said to practice taking photo of my corals. I finally got some time over the holidays. I was also motivated since after good years of struggle I managed to clear my tank of the dreaded GHA.

I started with a remodeling. It was time to arrange the corals & rocks to make some room.

This is before:

These 2 photos are after - notice the empty space now in the middle - the fish love it. They hang out there often. And they're coming out of hiding faster than before. I also moved the big LPS colonies down and out of the way to make room on the rocks.

Here are some random coral shots taken after reading some suggestions online & doing minimal post-processing using picasa. I used a Cannon EOS Rebel T1i with a tripod. For sure I need to practice more :)!

Nice aquascaping change. I love the idea of an open area in the reef.

Pictures are good. They can be better though.

Use a tripod and the timer setting.

When we push the button on a camera it causes it to shake. A 2 or 10 second delay will allow the camera to stabilize allowing for a clear sharp picture.

If your camera has a raw format use it for post processing in lightroom or a similar program.

Nice macro shots too.

Thanks for feedback. I used a tripod and the timer. Gotta work more on focus. Probably need a sturdier tripod as well
