Prazi Pro And Prime?

Can you use Prazi Pro and Prime together? I put some prazi pro in my 75 DT as a preventive 2 days ago and now I want to add some Prime to my tank. Is this safe to do?

Probably. But some stuff decreases PP's effectiveness. I'd call Hikari, they make PP and the number is on the bottle. They have very good tech support. BTW, why do you want to add Prime to a DT? Its an ammonia-neutralizer----if you have any ammonia in your DT, it indicates a bigger problem.

My 75 DT has been sitting fallowed for 10 weeks with just a few crabs and snails while my foxface, swallowtail and labouti wrasse been in QT. 3 days before the 10 weeks time frame I put a treatment of prazi pro in the 75 as a preventive. When I put the 3 fish back in the 75, I got to thinking maybe I would get a ammonia spike since not much of a bio-load in the last 10 weeks so I put a dose of a 50 gal treatment of Prime in it late last night in case I would get the ammonia spike.

Makes sense. PP breaks down after about 5 days (max); I believe.

One thing I noticed about prazi pro, is my foxface seem to be a little sensitive. He has been eating very aggressively during the QT period. Toward the end of the QT period I dosed the QT tank with the prazi pro and he seem to eat less about 30%. After the 5 days I did a 20% water change and he went back to eating like he has been. Yesterday I transfered him back to the 75 DT (DT 3rd day of prazi pro) I noticed him not eating as much as he does but also been moved. Tomorrow I will be doing a 10% water change in my 75 and will see what happen plus turn the skimmer back on. The other 2 fish does'nt seem to be sensitive to the prazi pro.

I have had similar observations in the use of PraziPro with a blue-spotted grouper. Appetite decreased and heavy breathing were present during the first two treatments with little side effects on the third treatment. Most present during the initial 2-3 hours after the addition of PP.

The grouper had a bad cause of untreated flukes for an extended time.

Most fish seem unfazed by the medication.

The directions on my PP bottle recommended dosing Prime, AmQuel+, or a similar product with its use in an aquarium, anyway. I am wondering if, when treated in a display, they are preparing you for a possible ammonia spike from the additional worm types to the parasites that it will kill off. I used AmQuel+ with it in my display and did not seem to have a problem with efficacy, so I would assume that Prime is fine as well.

My Blue Throat Trigger didn't do too well with the PP, but he got over it in the first 24 hours of treatment.
