Prazi-Pro in SPS reef ?

anyone tried dosing prazipro in their reef tank ?

what was the outcome ? how did the corals and clams and shrimps and crabs and ... did ?

I used it once with no ill effects on my reef for flukes. You have to turn the skimmer off while doing the treatment and be prepared to do a big water change after the treatment otherwise your skimmer will go nuts.

I have not done it but I'm pretty sure your inverts would be affected.

didn't lose any shrimp and no noticeable loss of hermits and snails. I know a few people that have used it in their reef tanks with no issues at all even with clams.

like I mean it might kill worms and featuredusters, did they ever regrow in your reef after the treatment ?

i've have done it several times without any loses. My birdsnest retracted its polyps for a short while but returned back to normal.

I never had any ornamental feather dusters in the tank but had plenty of them growing on the rocks in my overflow, rocks and sump. It took a while for them to open up again but they did.

I wanted to see what the treatment would do to my skimmer before the WC so I turned it on and with minutes the cup was full"¦skimmer went nuts. I did a 50% WC and the skimmer was fine. I then waited a few days and did another 15% WC. I would definitely plan on doing the biggest WC that you can do at the end of the treatment. The treatment was very successful for me in that I only lost one fish that had flukes and unfortunately it was a Gold Flake angel so it wasn't a cheap loss either. But all of the other fish that showed signs of flukes had a full recovery.

That is a great point. Thank you. I feel safer using it now as i had no issues with interceptor.

I use prazipro regularly in my predominantly SPS reef tank as a preventative measure. I have clams, anemones, shrimp, snails, and crabs that are unaffected by the treatment. I don't have feather dusters though, so I can't comment on that.

The only pain is having to remove the carbon and skimming from my tank during the treatment. I also have to do about a 40-60% water change before I can start skimming effectively again.

What about a tank that is running bio-pellets? Should the reactor be shut down as well?

+1. I did a spectrum treatment a couple of times, lost some inverts but I'm guessing that was from the interceptor, not the praziquantel. Not sure if the doses in spectrum are equivalent to the Prazi Pro directions though.

I know someone in my local club in nj who has used it to aefw's and says it works. He also tried to claim it kills ich as well....he hasn't posted much since making that statement.

LOL....he had really strong convictions in his beliefs and not many saw eye to eye with him. I didnt think you were trying to make any conclusions about its possibilities.
