Prazi treatment and Biopellets

I hope everyone had a great easter. I had a quick question:


I had to dose my display tank w\ Prazi after an idiotic move from my part (QT'ed fish that i didnt notice flukes on the WHOLE time it was in QT ). I turned off Skimmer and GAC. Concerned about biopellets b\c last time i turned off the flow for a few days it turned black and smelled like DEAD people. Will letting the pellets run ruin the prazi treatment?

Don't know of any reaction between the two but it's possible . Both will be adding organcs though which culd be a problem with teh skimmer and gac off. It you stop the flow to the pellets ,the reactor will become anoxic. Sulfate reducing bacteria will feed off the organic carbon from the pellets and produce toxic hydrogen sulfide,aka sewer gas as a by product.

To avoid killing off the other bacteria , I'd probably run the reactor in from and out to a separate vessel with aerated water until the prazi treatmtment was complete.

I don't think the pellets will cause problems with the praziquantel. At this point, I might ditch the pellets, though, or at least clean them well.
