PraziPro in DT

Hi everyone, Im hoping I can get some help with a problem I'm having.

A few months ago i purchased a trio of Anthias Lyretail from DiversDen "¦. I had them in a QT tank and they had some sort of "fin rot" which killed all 3 of them"¦.. I posted a thread about it but couldn't solve the issue: http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2414796

Few weeks ago I decided to try them again as i really love these fish. I found a trio on DiversDen and pulled the plug, I had them in QT for observation only and they did great, and yesterday they went in the DT.

Now i seem to be having the start of the same problem, occurring only on one of the females (currently), so i decided to treat my DT with PraziPro ( 6 teaspoons in a 120G system).

And now I'm posting this thread to ask if you all could suggest anything I can do from here on out to help with this problem. I will wait 7 days before i do a 20% water change so that the PraziPro is effective. Also please note all fish appear healthy and eating del, aside from the physical appearance on the 1 females scales and fin.

Below are pics of the cut tent fish and tank.

Is the same problem being fin rot? If so Prazi will not help with that. Which fin(s) seems to be having the problem?

I don't think its the same problem but it sure does seem like it... It's more mild then the last time and it's mostly one the scales of the one female, and one of the fins looks to be ripped alittle. I will try to get a better pic but if you notice, in the second picture, the fish has discoloured scales on the side as well as a scuff on its forehead and behind that scuff is the "ripped" top fin.

You might want to give dr. G's anti-parasitic caviar and follow the directions. FYI those fish have a high metabolism and need to be feed at least 3 times a day.

I didn't read anything good about using such product, and was told prazipro is the safest in DT.

Also I am aware they need to be fed a few times a day but I also heard that this particular species can go with being fed only twice a day... Is this true? And what do you think is the best food for them? They seem to go for frozen over pellets and feeding feeding frozen 3 times a day will be tough.

I can't speak to the type of good to feed or how many times to feed but I would stop the Prazi. Prazi also has a tendency to suppress appetite. Is it possible the missing scales could be aggression? Perhaps from the clown?

They are eating twice a day and they are eating like pigs, all 3 of them. And this is day 2 of PraziPro so as of now appetite hasn't changed and the fish are in great shape minus the little scuff on the forehead and the scales mentioned of only one fish.

And I thought that could be the reason but i haven't witnessed any aggression myself. I will watch closely for that now.

Should I stop PraziPro anyways? Would doing a 20 percent water change be enough?

You could do a water change but by tomorrow (day 3) the Prazi is out of the system. You may not see the aggression. It could be happening at night. My cherub angel was hiding for 3 days (she is by far the meanest fish in the tank) and I couldn't figure out why. Till she came out and I saw quite a few scales missing on her side:) One of the new clowns did it.
As far as your fish I would just watch and make sure everything is healing well. I'm sure you put vitamins in their food.

Thanks so much for the help again!

So if I leave the tank alone, by tomorow all the prazipro would have been broken down by the biological system so I don't have to worry about water change until regular scheduled time?

Also I dont add any vitamins but I will start as soon as you tell me what your recommend to be the best additive. Right now I'm simply feeding them frozen mysis shrimp and new life spectrum Thera A+A pellets (which they seem to ignore over the mysis)
