I'm going to start prazi pro in my tank as a precaution. The bottle says to turn the skimmer off but can I just dial it down or remove the cup to keep the Water oxygenated? Is prazi pro Reef safe too? I just have zoas and some lps

Supposedly it's reef safe except for feather dusters/tube worms. I would just point some powerheads towards the surface or run some airstones in your sump to compensate for the skimmer. Or just take the cup off, and let the water/air pour back into the sump.

As long as it doesn't harm my zoas and lps, I'm ok with any other Coral it kills.

So taking the cup off is better then dialing the skimmer down?

Yes, because you are still getting max O2 that way. And you need extra O2 when using Prazi. The only downside is looking at tiny microbubbles in your tank for a few days.

Thanks.

Should I do the full 5-7 day rx with one dose or make it shorter and dose again? I have read that overdosing a little doesn't harm anything but is it more effective to otherwise then to maintain the dosage directed on the bottle?

If you suspect your tank is infected with flukes; you dose once, wait 5-7 days, do at least a 20-25% WC, and then dose again. The reason for the 2 doses is Prazi kills worms, but not the eggs they leave behind. The 5-7 day window usually ensures you get the "second generation" before they can lay eggs of their own. This is far from 100% certain though. I've known people who have had to treat 4-5x to completely eradicate certain strains of flukes (myself included).

I would follow the directions on the bottle; some people get away with overdosing, but it can cause problems.

Good advice. There are a zillion species of flukes & kin, so life-cycles aren't all the same. I've also had to dose more than twice, but would never compensate for this by using larger doses, which wouldn't work anyhow.

I started the dosing today. I turned off my carbon and took the cup off my skimmer after turning it up so the it flow over faster.

I have a total water volume around 150g so I am dosing for 150g. I did 4tsp today and will do the remainder tomorrow after seeing how the fish/coral react to the half dose. I need 7.5tsp to maintain the amount that is said on the bottle for my system.

I plan on keeping it with full for 5 days. On the 6th day, I plan on running skimmer, carbon, and water change. 7th day I will do another full dose and leave it for 7 days.

Is that a good plan? Should I leave the first Rx for longer then 5 days?

Your skimmer will go crazy if it isn't turned off and it is reef safe for everything but feather dusters.

Its okay if the skimmer goes crazy. I don't have the cup on it so its going back into the tank anyways. As long as by leaving it on without the cup doesn't make the medication ineffective, I am okay with it over skimming.

Bottle says 5-7 I would go for 6-7 to be sure it has a chance to fully work the first two times you dose

Yea, 6-7 sounds safer. I just completed the entire dose a couple of minutes ago. The fish looked fine and no one was breathing fast or acting weird after the half dose I put in a couple of hours ago so I put in the remaining. Now its its at the full dose and I will start counting days tomorrow. I will run the skimmer and carbon next Sunday. Lets see how everything is tomorrow.
