Predator tank suggestions?

My tank is a Red Sea 170 (37 gal Display)

I have as of today got a Fuzzy lionfish

My plan is to get these:


Sargassum Fish According to liveaquaria compatible with lionfish but caution with eel.. So eel will perhaps eat it?

Snowflake Eel

Too much this all I want in this tank for fish that is... Or other suggestions?

Sargassum Fish I am thinking may eat the Eel.. So maybe out of question with any anglers looks like. I heard these guys will try and eat anything... dang

Your looking at fish too big for a display of 37 gallons. No one spot fox, snowflake could be pushing it. A golden dwarf moray is a better choice. Anglers typically do better by themselves, and can eat anything they fit in their mouth. I think your fuzzy is a good choice. I wouldn't add much more, possibly anything.

Angler may try to eat the lion and kill both of them. I had a 29 that housed a dwarf zebra, a fuzzy dwarf and a gold stripe maroon clownfish. She was a predator in her own right. That tank has changed to a peacock mantis tank. She has no other tank mates that aren’t considered edible, but very active and fun to watch. For the past half hour she has decided that a turbo snail is “hers”. She picked it up and is hugging it and running laps in the tank. I think she is trying to pry it’s door open but she hasn’t struck it yet, she may just be bored. The dwarf lions are ambush predators so they’re not very active which is why I had the clownfish in there with them. If you did go that route find an adult female. They won’t bother eachother but you can’t do a pair because the lion will kill the male sooner or later. Truthfully the female may kill the male in a 37 sooner or later.

Could also go with a Fu Manchu lion. Same issue as the zebra though as in not too active. I should specify from my last post, you can not put a peacock mantis in there. The lion will try to eat it of size is right or it will kill the lion. Lion would be an easy target too if it isn’t big enough to eat the mantis. They perch on the rocks and wait for things to get close. The peacock can see it no matter how long it sits. It will crush its skull. Look into a peacock’s eyes. They are intelligent and inquisitive and when they stare through you, you know it is a killing machine. It has no soul. It doesn’t care about you any more than it’s food bringer. It neither hates you or loves you, it nothings you. There is no in between.


It is my favorite animal I have ever had.
