Preg Clown

Hi. I have two clowns....one is OBVIOUSLY a female, but she looks like to me she may be ready to lay down a few eggs. What are the physical attributes to her if she is about to lay? Her belly area is slightly bulbish and a slight shade a green, also she has become quite aggressive toward my male clown as of late. So what do you think?

Also what do I need to do if she DOES lay? I am wondering if ANY will survive. I have really no other way of separating them except a 10 gallon tank....but I have no filter for it.....and nothing else really. Everything goes for my 75'er.

i have not tried to raise my fry from my sebae clowns. but from what i read on here it can be quite diff your first time... there is a lot of research needed to be done before you attmpts this. mor than likely if your fish spawns.. as long as nothing is changed in the tank .. they should continue to spawn ever week or so.. so i would be in no rush to try to save these little guys... oh after the eggs are laid.. they hatch in about 7 days... its quite a site to see.

Ok.....good. I am not trying to save the little critters....as I do not have the capacity to do so. I am just curious if these little guys ever survive in a 75 gallon tank with 4 fish....they do in the wild obviously. Just a big curiosity. Thanks.

It's highly unlikely that they would survive in your main tank. I think I read somewhere that only about 1 in a million eggs survives in the wild, and a tank has far less diversity of microcritters to allow for survival, IMO

With obstacles like churning power heads, pumps, overflows, hungry coral and other fish, the little fry don't stand much of a chance. If you aren't able to raise them in a seperate tank, they really don't stand a chance. They will end up as nutrition for your tank.
