Ok, there are plenty of TBS threads, I want to see some pics of your PA Live Rock Tanks. I will be getting mine soon and want to see what the Marshal Island, Tonga, and Fiji look like!!!

Thanks

Just had time to do a few quick pics of the Marshall tub and rock. We are completely out of Kaelini, so nothing to show off there, and the Fiji is pretty bland anymore no matter where you get it from.

First picture is of the Marshall pool, 800 gallons, a little over 1000lbs in there right now curing out. Each vat like this has a Dolphin Ampmaster 5600 on a closed loop and a few larger circulation pumps as well. Each vat has a 400W metal halide that is run over it for approximately 4.5hrs a day, as well as a commercial sized protein skimmer and calcium reactor on the entire system.

Hey Thanks for the quick pics Jeremy!!! I will be spending some money with you real soon, lol.

What kinds of Hitchhikers are common on your rock?

With the Marshall you can expect a lot of spaghetti worms, a few mini brittles, pods, a little macro here and there (easy to pick off and does not get to plague proportions), every now and then some Halimeda that makes it through the curing, and really nice coralline algaes. Every once in a while we get reports that customer's will get a white hairy rock crab, but they don't ever seem to be damaging at all, more of just a "knock over frags" type of crab.

I've bought marshall twice now and am extremely please with it, especially with the coraline that colored up within a week or two, pink, purple, red, green, gorgeous rock.

it's nice. i am seriously consider buying LR from you. i like your marshall rock but i want nano size so i am not sure you can accomodate my need. i know you have nano-rock but i have seen pictures of it and it doesn't look as good as the marshall island rock. the nano-rock that i have seen is 90% grey in color and there is no pink, green, yellow or red. i am afraid i will got something like that.

We do not try to promote our rock as "coralline" rock, but rather actual "liverock." We treat our rock differently than about all other online resellers, and the majority of LFS's. We feel if we can minimize the amount of time the rock is out of the ocean once it is harvested to the time we retank it in our facility, and properly care for the rock as if it is actually "live" rock then we can supply the some of the most superior quality of rock on the market. Not all rock in the ocean is an encrusted ball of coralline algae, but rather a structure of a micro size ecosystem on the rock itself. If we do our part from the time the rock is harvested, we can ensure you will have a great base ecosystem to build your tank off of. Sometimes coralline will not be present on all rocks that you receive, however 99% of the time it will be covered in various colors in a matter of weeks in your system given the proper conditions.

Here are a few pictures of some random pieces of nano I pulled out of our systems as an example....

If you are local we do allow you to pick it out yourself, however you would pay the cured price for the rock, you would not get the uncured price. If you let us know what you are looking for we can pick it out for you (just like an internet order) and we will give you the internet pricing on the rock.

Thanks,
Jeremy

Jeremy,
wow, the nano-rock pictures you posted are nothing like the ones i saw in other post. the rock you posted are picked from the vat randomly? and they are nano marshall rock? if that's the case, i am confident that i will be buying from you in a week or two.

thanks!

dzhuo,

That was a random pick of Marshall nano, the first three pieces I pulled out, I did not "cherry pick" those pieces. Some pieces will have more coralline than others. Also, this rock is 12 or so day into the curing process (Marshall is usually cured in about 15 days in our system, give or take a few), and the longer it cures the less coralline it usually comes out with. However, these colors typically pop back within a matter of just a couple weeks to four or five weeks after being in your established system.

Jeremy,
i have decided that i will buy the Marshall nano rock from you :) i have a few more questions for you:

1. when will be a good time to place an order?
2. i want to receive my LR on Saturday, do you deliver on Saturday?
3. i want to provide you with a picture of the kind of aquascape i have in mind. do you do this for your customer? i know that you can't pick the rocks 100% to my taste but can you try to do something so i got the rocks the shape i want them?

thanks!

jeremy - do you guys plan to get in / sell any of the Fiji Buna Branch rock? its awesome looking stuff from the photo's I have seen

We used to carry this rock on a few separate occassions and we just could not get anything to live on it. It would come in looking great, just like a lot of rock does, but 2 - 3 weeks after curing it would be extremely baron and void of any life. There is also an enormous amount of rubble that comes in with this rock, so unless you sell "transhipped" rock, which we don't like to do, there is no money to be made on it.

1. when will be a good time to place an order?

Completely up to you....if you want uncured I would recommend sometime late next week, or a week from this Monday/Tuesday. If you want nice cured rock then anytime is ok. We "should" have enough cured to get us through the end of next week.

2. i want to receive my LR on Saturday, do you deliver on Saturday?

Yes, we do deliver on Saturday. For this option you need to have your order shipped via Next Day Air tagged for Saturday arrival. Saturday delivery fee through UPS is $12.50.

3. i want to provide you with a picture of the kind of aquascape i have in mind. do you do this for your customer? i know that you can't pick the rocks 100% to my taste but can you try to do something so i got the rocks the shape i want them?

We ask all of our customers that order rock what sizes they are looking for, etc. We will try to accomodate your needs as best as we can.

Jeremy,

Do you have 350lbs of Marshall LR (large pieces) currently available. Going into a 500g tank so I need large/show pieces. Thanks.

Thanks, don't need the LR immediately...in the next few weeks will be fine. Thought I would give you some notice as I know the larger pieces are harder to come by. Just let me know.

Jeremy,
i am ready to order my LR in a couple of days. Last minute questions:

1. i realize i need to buy live sand as well. i have seen live sand that has a yellowish color. what color is your live sand? white or yellow?

2. i know marshall rocks are light so for a 10G nano, how much LR you recommnd? i like to have lots of open space for my fish.

thanks!

Hi Curt,

We could probably fill that order right now if you needed it. We also have more Marshall coming in later this week.

dzhuo,

The sand we have is mainly Florida live sand, which is a combo of tan and white, more of a tannish color though.

I would recommend around 8 - 10lbs if you want the tank to be really open. If you want it to be about half way full then aroun 15 - 20 would work.

Thanks,
Jeremy
