Do you know you can use a much cheaper transformer than the Tunze unit and accomplish the same thing? I've been doing it for years. It's not as pretty unless you want to put it inside an enclosure but works fine. You have to modify your electronics box slightly, though.

Ummm, I don't know how... :( If you want to help save me the $81 per transformer, I'd be happy to figure it out though... :)

Awesome, the only thing I need is an AquaC Remora o-ring. LINK I would never have ordered it since its like $1.50.

It's okay if you decide not to make the order if you want to DIY that transformer.

Dave~ Definately interested... :) LMK how hard it is, and what parts...

Donny~ Kim needs the lamp cords, so an order will be placed reguardless...

I used a Triad transformer and soldered the output directly into the electronic control unit. The transformer is about $20. You could buy the Molex connector if you wanted for an extra $5 or so to make it plug directly into the controller w/o soldering but I'd have to research that a bit. If you wanted to, you could put it in an aluminum enclosure, but I did not, and that would run $5-$10. Just add a short grounded extension cord which you modify and a few wire nuts and you're set! So, probably less than $40. However, if it is still under warranty, I wouldn't advise it.

Another suggestion is that you contact Roger. Sometimes he can help you troubleshoot, as I doubt your transformer has failed (most unlikely thing to fail in the system unless subjected to saltwater or something severe like that). If you have a voltmeter, you should read around 20V out for a 6100 and a bit less for a 6000, but that's center-tapped.

If you want to bring it by sometime, I can probably help you troubleshoot it unless you're sure it is the transformer.

No, I was upgrading from the 6000 to the 6100, the transformer is still good... :) Its still under warantee so I guess I'll just buy the one at PA... Maybe just one instead of the two though to see how much of a difference it makes... I'll be driving back through in June or July and can always get the other one then...

Thanks for the help though... :D
