Prepairing to lay eggs?

My B/W Occy has grown a lot since i've had it.
Noticed today that it was cleaning a particular spot on a rock today over and over and over and i know this is something a clown does when they plan on laying eggs...

could it be that she is thinking about laying eggs or just being a clown...

will a female lay eggs without a mate around? cause for the past couple months my two clowns have kinda lived on opposite ends of the tank.

Sounds like she is reaching sexual maturity and is displaying normal behavior. I've never heard or seen a female lay eggs without being fully bonded to the male but, I don't know everything... yet
