Though I would freak out when something like that looks at me from inside my tank...

Umpteen years (30+ years) ago I had a Orbicularis batfish in a 29 gal tank. Need less to say, it did not stay in there for very long. This bat fish is the same. A little better as an adult but not much

He was fine. Actually my yellow belly Regal angel (my second Regal that lived) I got from Alton also do the same thing. He even touched the blue carpet (now in the refugium connected to the DT) and does not seem to get stung by the carpet.
The picture above was when I just release him into the DT. He used the carpet as refuge from the tangs harassment.

Agreed. Very pretty fish. I'm on my number 3 & 4 now.
