Price for a clown pair?

I'm thinking about getting a pair of wild caught True Percs from a LFS, but I am not sure how I feel about the price. They are a bonded pair, that too my knowledge have never mated yet. The female is appx. 2.5 inches, and the males is appx. 1.5 inches. They are turning dark already (store is selling them as Onyx, but they are just wild caught).

Is $100 a bad price for the pair?

For a pair of Onyx, that seems like a fair price for a lfs. But you'll never know for sure if it's an Onyx untill they're older.

They are already about 50% black.

well it looks like a good price, my lfs is selliig pairs of percs for $250.......... ( they are overpriced)

If they are wild caught and don't yet have complete onyx coloring, the chances are very slim that they will develop it later. Wild caught fish of that size could be anywhere from a year to 10 years old. If they aren't blacked in between the bars by now, they probably never will be.

not a bad price...especially from a LFS...a LFS here is selling a single true perc for $50...

If they are really onyx, that's a good price. If not, true percs tend to go for about $40 each (at least here in New Mexico), so it's still not entirely outrageous.
