I'm not going to say what I paid yet because it might bias your opinion and I want to know what you'd see it at your lfs for; I want to see if I paid the right price. It is about 8 inches long with a 6 inch diameter and 100% full of life. It has 3 differnet types of zoas on it, a mussel, and weird purple and green anemones. Can someone also identify the anemones? What do mussels need to eat?

It sounds like I paid about right. I got it for $60. I think it is a really nice specimen, it is really big and full. I don't know about you guys but around here I only find rocks with 10 zoas on it, and divers den way over charges for there zoas they only have a couple of these types of zoas on a rock for $60

The aneomone is that big sprout in the top left of the colony there are also some others but you can't seen them that well in the pictures, how fast do zoas grow? Do they spread really well once established?

What do mussels eat?

FishyMel i think those are Proto-Palythoas. some can be very nice. maybe you can get a better picture of them. i had a rock jsut like that and fraged up the proto zoa's and sold the rock to a buddie. there was only like. now there is like 20 now and they are nice deep green with neon green mouth after they colored up in my lights maybe i'll get a pic of them if you want to see.

mussels are fliter feeder , plankton type foods

if you can frag them out so they have space for growth they should grow quicky. got the rock around 8-2007 and i frag the 3 hitchhikers now there is more the 20, 2-2008.

Man I sure wish my LFS got zoas. The only LFS around here that seem sto have zoas is petco. I say no thanks to them. They seem to always want $60 for a 15 polyp rock.

Those proto paly's are the fastest growers in my tank by a long shot! Like weeds...
