problem/question on pairing my gold maroon clowns

I have a gold maroon clown for about 1 1/2yr now and I decided to try and find a mate. I put the new one in and the dominate one charged a few times but the new one didnt submit, just swam away. When night came, I put the new one in a container overnight so he wouldn't get killed and in the morning I left him out and the same thing happened. This time when night came I collected both of them and put them in the container near her RBTA for the night and morning. I only witnessed her shoving him to the side but that was it. In the afternoon I decided to let them both out and see what happens.
They swam around near each other(around her home) then after 5 minutes she charged him twice and he shook then kissed her. After the second time, he swam away and is by himself like he wants nothing to do with her while she keeps looking for him on occassion but no luck on finding him.
So, my question is do you think its a possiblilty of them pairing up. Im just concern it seems the male wants nothing to do with my beautiful female. Im wondering if this is normal and I should just give it time for love to blossom.

How big is the new maroon? Hopefully it's not already changed into a female.

the female is about 2-2 1/2 in and the new one is about 1/2-3/4 in. I think he's an appropiate size.

give it a few days sounds like normal behavior for now

The fact that she hasn't attacked him violently yet is a good sign, and the fact that you saw the kissing is also a good sign. With my pair the female will mock charge the male and he will dodge it and kiss her on the cheek. As dean said I would just monitor things and give it time
