problem with a 6025

Hi,
I have a nano-stream 6025 I purchased about a month ago from Marine Depot.
Since I have had it it runs backwards quite a bit. It is also loud. We took it out and cleaned it and noticed surface rust on the shaft and the shaft has a good deal of play.
What do you suggest?

This is no help but my 6025 runs backwards also. I have a post on here as well. I can get it to run correct by covering the front with my hand. It was loud when I first bought it but now the noise is not an issue.

The shaft should not come out, so we need to replace the pump if that is the case. Ducatti, I suspect you have a too tight fitting drive unit if the shaft is not loose. I can send a drive unit if that is the case. I have also seen cases where fine grit and debris got between the shaft and rotor and cause the same problem, if the lack of reversal is a new issue and it reversed before this could be the culprit. The drive unit has to be able to fly off the shaft and fall back in order to reverse.
