Problem with Emperor Aquatics smart uv lite 40 w

Hi all
I just noticed this morning that i can see light shining through the tube of my UV , is it the inside paint that was eaten away or is it happening at the molecular level ? It is only a year and a half old , i disconnected everything to be safe , now i am wondering if it leeched various components into my tank .
Anyone with similar experiences ?

I have an 80W, and I haven't installed it yet.

I sent them an E-Mail and am waiting for response , they are now owned by Pentair Aquatics

Emperor (Pentair) got back to me and said that they are aware of this problem on a small number of UV'S and that this seem to happen if they are running at lower flow levels, i mentioned that mine has always been running at 300 gph minimum which is a lot more than the minimum recommended levels in their guides.
As far as warranty replacement , i did not feel that they responded very well , after a few e-mails , they finally referred me to a Canadian distributor located in Victoria B.C. ( i am located in eastern canada) ,
I sent them an E-Mail and will see where this goes ....
I lost a big bird nest colony the same week this happened , so i do beleive that there was leeching of the tube material into the tank .
So in resuming , not very impressed by product and service , and i would advise that you monitor closely your UV if you own Emperor Aquatics UV's

Never seen this before, almost like the quartz sleeve is damaged or something.
