Problem with esl

I'm trying to adjust my lights. When I plug them in the connection manager acknowledges them. I sign into ESL then it prompts loading devices. It goes no further. After about 10min of loading it comes back with a message saying ESL is having a problem. Try again later. Ideas?

It's the nature of the internet and servers, it does happen at times and other major Amazon (our server host) customers, i.e. Netflix, are also experiencing these issues.

EcoSmart Live is fully up and functional; please let us know if you have a legitimate issue from here forward.

You're kidding, right? You're comparing the control of a light that cost $749.00, and and upon which our prize coral collection depends with Netfix???? You'd have been better of saying nothing than saying that. I have to give you kudos for your customer service, but in all reality, the only reason we are all aware of your customer service is because there have been so many issues with your product and the software upon which it relies. Please, please rethink the direction that you are taking these lights. I'm sure that most of your customers don't realize that we are now completely at your mercy; and at some point you may decide to start charging a subscription fee for access to software on your server.

We have absolutely no plans to charge "subscriptions" for any product/service we offer. I understand your concern regarding the online-based control, and I'm being completely transparent with you in saying that we're working day in/day out to ensure that our platform is the best on the market. Please be patient with us as we continue to grow.

this is really not going well for me, i have been trying to adjust my lights for almost a week now because some of my corals are not doing well, local control is locked out, and if i could get into local control from here, the change would be too much anyway, i have a fairly new tank going and i need control to get the right setup, i'm fine tuneing, not a fan of this web based system, i am out of control and i don't like it, i don't understand why so many people think that putting things that you do say "at home" would be better having the instructions, controls and data out in public, i'll take control at home, programs on My computer, and local backup data, over clouds ,,,,,,,,,clouds never stay in one place and aren't always where you need them, plus not everybody has a whipass internet connection, but everything these days is written like they do, what happened to buy the disc, install it on your hardrive- done ! ooooops sorry, i digress , so when do think i can access ecosmart live? lol,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,i can only access it late nite, is that a problem ?

Ummm.... I'm not MAC... I'm Win-Intel, and I am still at the mercy of an outside source--- the Ecotech server.

No, ESL exists because of Mac....

They had a windows client, and a BUNCH of mac fanboys complained that they couldn't program their radions...

Ecotech had no option but to seek a web based solution because from a dollars and sense standpoint, creating both a windows app and a mac app would have been ridiculously expensive (double the programming team, double the programming costs and increasing lead time between improvements/versionzs for a small portion of the market).... So they did what any company would do, seek a cross platform solution, AKA ESL...

I've never truly understood why the controls have to be PC/Mac based in the first place. I can run all my home appliances without the need to hook them up to a PC/MAC, Internet, Remote Server or Cloud. (Dang... no coffee this morning, the web is down!) Keep the glitz and glamour; give me something dependable.

Why not use the same technology as some controller companies use (I'm only familiar with Apex). The display plugs directly into the hardware, if I find that too small or cumbersome, I can access it via my network using a web browser. I can always fall back to the hardwired connection if there are problems with the network.

I'm the customer and local control gives me peace of mind.

most light company's used external controllers or internal controllers. Ecotech designed it to be used with their software which may be cheaper than manufacturing a piece of equipment or added it to the unit its self. If they offered an external controller it would cost even more money. Right now my other light fixture is a Maxspect Mazzarra with separate controller. It works great and easy to adjust.

Have to disagree on this front. There is no reason that they couldn't have created a cross platform web based solution that was embedded in the Radion firmware. Think about your Linksys router, or Apex Controller, or your Roku, or one of the other 1000 devices in the marketplace that are cross platform without relying on a cloud based service.

I AM GETTING THIS WHY?
We are currently experiencing issues that might prevent you from communicating with your Radions.

You can continue using the site, but it would be best if you checked back later.
