Problem with MH

I have an Aqua Medic Oceanlight 250W with XM HQI double ended bulb. It worked fine for 3 months, but a week ago the bulb stopped working. The bulb was started and "warmed up" for a minute but then turned off.
So I got a new bulb and the same thing happens. The bulb warms up foa minute and stops when it should get to full intensity. And it keeps on trying every 30 minute or so.
What is the problem? Ballast?

I can't say I know exactly what the problem is, but the 30 minute delay is a safety precaution built into the ballasts that waits for the bulb to cool before it tries to fire it up again...basically.

For a proper answer we could use more info on the brands of your lighting equipment, and you might consider posting this question is a more general forum so that people outside of your region can try to help as well.

Personally, I would assume this to be a ballast issue as well and would contact the manufacturer. They should be able to point you in the right direction as i'm sure this isn't the first time this has happened.

Didier - I've got a brand spanking new 250w ballast that works like a charm. Or at least it did for the 2 five minute tests I fired it up for. Though I'll likely sell it as "d@mn near brand new" shortly, I'd like to think you would not compromise that much if you used it for a few minutes to determine if your problem was your ballast or not.

It's here any time you need it buddy.

BTW - did I mention that the USA is going to kick Endland's butt shortly? ;)
