Problem with toadstool coral

My toadstool coral coral seems to only open up once every week if that. It has great flow and right in the middle for lighting. My tank is cal 360, ph 8.0 ,dkh 8 nitrates 15 sal 1.025. All of my other coral are open and doing great but no idea whats wrong with this one.???

I also have one that sometimes does the same thing. It closes up mainly after water changes. A picture would help to see if it's sick or just closed up.

Leathers seem to be sensitive to higher nitrate levels. It may be the nitrates irritating it. Also, you calc should be up around 450 ppm. If you are having a hard time raising your calc, check your magnesium. If your mag is low it's nearly impossible to raise your calcium. Mag should be around 1350 ppm.

Leathers being a softie, calc isn't a huge factor. I have a tyree green toadstool and a large regular toadstool. Sometimes they close up for a day or two at a time, sometimes they open all day and night. It will even stay open sometimes with a crab crawling around on top of the toadstool. They don't require a ton of light, and i found mine likes lower flow. They are filter feeders, so you can't really feed them either. Nitrates do make it unhappy, but i had mine open all the time in a tank that had nitrates off the chart (api test kits) for almost a full year. They just kind of have a mind of there own i guess you could say. Tempermental is a better word maybe.

High trates may make it unhappy, but I don't think you have high trates at all. Not alot of flow, some light, doesn't need alot.

try moving it somewhere with less light. leathers don't need alot of light. It might open up better with less light.

I cant move it, it glued it self to like 5 big rocks. I have a large one and it grew like 20 babies like 2 months ago and they are all doing fine. Its just the mother and my tyree that wont open
