Problems on BAR site - what?

Hey guys,

The shared hosting plan the BAR site is on seems to be going nuts. I think its because of the company (icky) and the massive traffic the holiday brings. Due to family emergencies we may not be able to address the issue for a week or two. In the meantime, accept our apologies that that site is currently unreliable.

Since we keep having problem with this host, maybe we should look for another host for next year or something. What do you guy think?

what's the budget we have? I know of a lot of different hosts I may be able to help with .

The budget is flexible. As far as I know, we are looking for either a way better shared host or a dedicated host. There are some other details regarding the type of database we need, but I am not sure about them now.

Looks like the site is back.

Last I heard we were looking at something like this Celeron:

Seems a little spendy to me, any other suggestions?

I'm hosting a bunch of message boards, a few with 2000+ members without ever having a hiccup for a pretty cheap price.

~$100 a year for unlimited bandwidth and 99% uptime. A very professional place. It can run MYSQL databases, supports php/perl etc.

look at advancednetworkhosts.com, that's what I've used. For 3 years, they've only had one hiccup when one of their servers was completely destroyed. They had backups and everything was fixed quickly.

I manage an interactive ad agency. We use Verio to host client micro sites. They have both Unix and Windows servers. No issues w/ them at all.
