Problems with anemones

125g Tank is 9 or so months old. A month ago I put a long tentacle anemone in (fairly small) and it died by the next morning.
I got a BTA and maxi-mini yesterday. Kept an eye on them both. Both grabbed on right away. MM is doing really well, he hasn't moved since last night. BTA went all the way around the rock, then moved elsewhere. Woke up to no BTA (was about the size of my fist, if not, bigger). Found 3 small chunks the size of the first half inch of my finger around the tank of the BTA.

Checked everything everywhere, no more BTA. Assuming it got eaten by a powerhead? All my powerheads are at the top of the tank. Second time I've not only spent $40 on an anemone, but also lost it within 12 hours.

My params are good, water is clean.

if your finding chunks of the bta then I am guessing the powerhead got them, just because they are at the top of the tank don't mean the anemone wont get to them, I suggest covering them up.

what lights do you have, how deep is your sand? LTA's need a deep sand bed. what are your water parameters? (numbers please)

Yup powerhead. It's happened to me at least 3-4 times. Also lost one before where it got past the overflow teeth and was stuck in the filter bag for a couple of days before I found it. It was a pile of mush

a trick I've used before. Once you introduce a new bta to the tank. Place it in the general area where you want it. Once it grabs onto the rock, start offering it food.
