Prodibio

What worries me about these new products. Is the guy that won the free polyps labs products and lost his tank after he stopped using the products. That right there would be enough for me not to use it.
So with that said i'm pretty iffie on the prodibio also. What happens when i decide i dont like it or what not.

OK, here are some reference pictures:

I should also note that the tank is going through a large algae bloom. This started before the dosing, and I do not think it is a result of the dosing, but rather from a normal cycle. I have had these algae blooms in every tank I have set up with these rocks, so it is not alraming to me, but it is a PITA.

I am on day ten after starting the Prodibio. I have been doing the Salifert regime since day one.

VERY IMPORTANT: I forgot to mention that I dose Vodka as a fuel source for the bacteria, 4cc every day. I have done this since day one too.

Now for the Pre-Prodibio pics:

Full tank shot. It is difficult to see, but the tank overflow and back wall are sprayed with black Handi-foam. The algae is growing on this just as if it were LR. Corraline algae is growing well on it too.

Green Damicornis, looks nice, bright green color and full. Good PE
NikonL3TestShots%20001Dami.jpg

Blood-Orange Zoos with green skirt. Looked good before dosing, but now along with several other zoos, they are not growing and are not fully open.
NikonL3TestShots%20013%20ZoosOrangeWithGreenSkirt.jpg

Purple-tip Acropora nana. This colony is large and the polyps come out partially on the tips, but never fully. The shaft color of the coral was on the tan side, with no PE.
This coral looks great today! The shafts are dark green with good PE and the tips have a deep purple color with full PE.

Blue Acropora tort. This coral has had partial PE pre podibio. Today it has full PE and the overall color looks the same.

Nice looking Neon-Green mouthed Blastomussa with a ring of clones around the base of the large polyp. This coral has always looked nice, but I do notice a bit less green in the center of the large polyp compared to previously when I had this in the old 80gal softy tank.

TrueBlueZoos, blue center with chocolate skirt. Looks good and has about 45 polyps.
NikonL3TestShots%20074%20ZoosTrueBlue.jpg

Acropora sp. This coral has very small protrusion of the polyps. Today, it looks about the same, there may be a tad more PE, but not much if any.

No, i never posted to the Zeo forum about it.Infact i have not even thought about it till i saw your pics. The corals that did it, devoloped awsome coloring and then were gone shortly after the polyops looked like yours. After that i stopped zeo.I was having some nutrient problems at the time also,So hard to tell.

ACK!!! :eek1: I am hoping this is a hic up for me.

An updated dosing list, I forgot a few things:

I hope so to.I really did not want to tell you that. But since your PE is just like mine was on some,Thought i would mention it.
How long have they looked like that?

everything I have read and have been told points to some toxicity that is causing the abnormal pe and tissue.

Hello All

I too have been having issues with my acros as of late . I have lost one and the second is looking rough . I can only say that there is only one new thing that I have added as of late VODKA .
2ml a day
The only new thing I have added is vodka to my system the first week I had great PE the second week I had a algea issue on one of my monti caps then after the loss of my first acro I stopped the vodka . The monti cap is back to normal but the acro is not doing so well . I am going to change my dosing to every three weeks instead of every two and reefbooster every week and a half .

Did Build up to the 2ml?or just start adding? i've been using vodka for about 2 yrs on and off pretty much straight for the last 6-8 mos. or the start of my new 120g and i found 1ml to 1-1/2ml to be plenty.

I started with 2ml . Maybe I started to high . I have a totlal water volume of about 160 gallons of water . After I get everything back to normal I may try again with a smaller dose .

FWIW I got up to 35ml of vodka in my 200g system and still never got a bacterial bloom ...However most of my byropsiss turned white :D after that I stopped...I was trying to get rid of my nitrates but never worked as I could never get the proper ratio of po4 to make it effective.

Ouch,ya i would start with a 1/2ml for a week then 1ml.then go from there maybe just dose 2ml for a month and see what happens.i like to take things like this slow but works for me.

heh.when i went for the bloom on my old tank (125g) it took 28ml nitrates went from around 50 to 10. Dont think i would ever try that again i think the slower reduction is better:D .I did loose 1 fish and that was with a BB.i think if it would have been a DSB i would have lost most.

Maybe it is the combination of Vodka with PolypLabs or Prodibio....???.... I know PolypLabs specifically states that is a no no but I figured they wanted to sell fuel. :rolleye1:

I have been looking back thru my pics and contacting people that I talked to about this to get a better time line. Here is the best I can come up with.

The first signs of strange tissue were March 17. This is before I started dosing Bacs. I posted in the SPS Forum about thinning on April 14th wondering if this was what I had. Was not.

I posted to this thread on April 16 or so about lack of PE.

I have pics showing the beginning of the tulip PE on May 7th and it had been getting more weird so I posted.

Chris.......were any of the toxins those associated with Ozone.

I am thinking it is a combo OD thing. Maybe Vodka. Maybe Ozone.

It wasn't mentioned that maybe ozone was reacting with supplements. I was looking for info on abnormalities only not specific dirrect causes yet . I needed to find out a why first . Finding the exact toxin is very hard considering I don't know the actual makeup of these products therefor I can't give the smart folks the info they need to tell me what elements in these products may produce the toxic effect when combined or overdosed.

I think you answered your question.A combitnation of all. When i ran into the same problem as you,i was only dosing zeo.nothing else.
I think you need to stick with only one product and follow there directions intill you get a feel for what each one does.like zeo it can take up to 6 mos before a change is really seen.i dont think these products are any different. And mixing them could be causing a toxin or something in the tank.

I dose as of right now

DAILY

2ml of start 2<-- zeo product
4 drops of aahc <-- zeo product
10 drops cv <--- zeo product

2x a week

3 drops iron
4 drops PI<--- zeo product

1 time a week

10% water change

every week and a half now

reef booster one vial

every three weeks now

biodigest one vial
biooptium two vial

every month

carbon exchange <--- zeo pruduct

thinking of starting vodka again maybe in a small amount maybe 1/2 ml a day only because I sure do like the way it makes my skimmer kick butt.

I agree. I will stay my course of beefed up water changes and also slowly take the tank off Vodka. Get back to square and try again with Prodibio only, no vodka, no ozone.

Another thing I noticed is that the undersides do not have the strange tissue appearance.

DST..........seems like my problem is prolly related to the mixing of Vodka with these other Bacs/Bac Foods. Go Slow and post results. :)

Not sure if you have seen "Iwans" tank or not.but he uses zeo start 2 as the fuel.(maybe he has a reason for this). But ya weening the tank off everything, sounds like a good idea. And then start slow again if you do.
