Prodibio

Spur2 Does this mean that your corals exsist in a partially bleached state?

I think so. but I am certain the Zeo guys would say different.

Does this frighten anyone else or is it safe?

:eek2: Totally!!! But it will prolly be the next Zeo product I order. :smokin:

I like the Zeo line and what I have seen some people achieve with it. I won't use it because I have a thing about those rocks! Won't do that. I am also bewildered by how so many people post on their site asking what to dose......what to dose........ I am the master of my reef (for better or for worse)

Maybe I will wait on the Spur2

In other news my Plate had to be cut. The dead skeleton portion was starting to grow algae. The STN seems to have stop but I cut it to be safe.

This Picture is from healthier times about a month ago. Coral was doing great then it just started to fail. Had it in the system for awhile too.

This Piorties was almost dead when I got it seems to still be alive. I am nervous about cutting away the dead portion. This one was pretty bad off.

Heres the lastest rescue project. This coral shipped poorly and started to RTN in the tank during acclimation. I managed to save two pieces. Seems to be ok. Its really growing green today. Not to sure on the species but its a Acro that grows into a cup like shape. Don't know what it is about the prodibio but it makes my tank a prime system to revitalize corals that didn't ship well from the wholesalers...Becoming quite freindly with LFS.

Some of the zeo products are very powerful....be careful when adding...namely the spur 2.

With that said, most of the corals in your tank are living in a partially bleached state. A non bleached state would be a completely brown coral...so dont let that scare you. By keeping a low nutrient tank you are preventing the algae to grow and "bleaching" it...only controlled :)

I believe this is correct...It could be that the spur does actually bleach it directly, but I wouldnt guess so.

Okay, let me toss a little credit toward Prodbio for once. ;)

This is a new tiny speck of Scripp's Acropora that I recently discovered in my rockwork. Just below it is a Xmas Tree worm for a size comparison. Notice the polyp extension on the SPS. Might as well blame Prodibio for that, right?

Btw, I made a 41 meg video of my tank, and you can view the SPS polyp extension pretty well. Right Click & Save As: http://www.melevsreef.com/video/280g_movement.wmv

Scott, I lost a plate also. I had another I gave away to a more suited tank. I think your last coral may be an efflo.

I've been using prodibio for almost a month now, but I stopped with the reefbooster because I didn't like the way it killed any skimming for over a day. Anyone think it's OK to just continue with the bioptim and bio digest only, or should I put the reefbooster back in rotation and not worry about how it effects skimming?

To tell you the truth my skimming has been down ever since I started Prodibio. It comes and goes actually. Sometime I get no skimmate for a couple of days and then for a day I get a half a cup. So far I can't tell that it has any negative effects. But then again I am not the biggest skimming fan....

Kirsten you are right about the order. Some type of software glitch but he finally got it shipped out a few days ago WITH some extra product. Kudos. I was surprised when it was shipped so late that a 1lb package was shipped via ups ground (a 6 day trip), so I am hoping that the trip from texas (where it appears to be at this time) by truck is not harmful to the contents in the middle of a Phoenix summer.

I agree that the there is very limited info on how Iwan's tank developed. I had to say I was a bit suspect when he said he had been doing reefs for only two years. But who knows. Perhaps a Prodibio Prodigy.

Anyone: Is it possible to put these various products into classes such as: Products that reduce nutrients; Products that feed corals; Products that enhance colors?

Maybe that's too simple and its various combinations of things that lead to the desired end results.

Reduce Waste:

Prodibio Bioptim provides all the micro-nutrients that are necessary BUT which have already been consumed by the life in the aquarium during a previous biological digestion: selected amino acids, enzymes, natural vitamins (riboflavin), and surface agents from plants to facilitate the membranous absorption of the components by the cells.

BIO DIGEST is composed with nitrifying and dénitrifying bacterial strains selected for their capacity to transform the ammonia into nitrites, the nitrites into nitrates and nitrates into nitrogen. They are guaranteed free from genetic mutations.

Feed:

REEF BOOSTER is a complete nutrient supplement containing all the essentials for the development of invertebrates which basically or partially feed on micro-plankton including corals in which symbiotic algae - Zooxanthelles - live and for which a micro-plankton booster is necessary.

Color & Growth:

Prodibio Iodi+ Invertebrates need it for coloration and for adapting to lighting variations.

Prodibio Stronti+ Strontium is an essential trace element in the reef aquarium environment. It stimulates growth in hard corals and assists in the development of the red calcareous and encrusting algae that produce the live rock decor.

Skimmer will decline for a day but than pick up. I wouldn't deviate from the directions but obviously if you notice more unwanted algae you would adjust accordingly (observation). Every tank is different.

Interestingly, I stopped my denitrator some time ago and took readings, my nitrate would slowly elevate but with Prodibio I have shown a reduction again. My softies, hammer, Sinularia, etc have opened up and have never looked better.:D

My Prodibio has finally arrived :D I am ready to start dosing tomorro. My total system volume is 310 liters, which is about half way between 1 ampoule or 2 for bioptim. Is there a danger of overdosing? Would it be safest to use 1 ampoule for my tank? My water quality is pretty good now (0.2 NO3, 0 PO4) so I was thinking of staying on the lighter side of dosing.

Rob

I would stay on the lighter side of dosing.

Today I dosed my tank. CRUD, I just remembered my carbon is newly replaced. Gotta go unplug it...

Okay, done. Anyway, as I was saying, I dosed three Bioptim, and 3 BioDigest, as well as a Strontium and an Iodine. My tank's volume is around 330g of water, but I don't want to overdose. I noticed that BioDigest says it will reduce red algae issues, and I've got some cyano I'd love gone. Heck, I'd drop in an ampule daily if it solved the problem finally. ;)

This is only my second week of dosing...I am also underdosing at the moment just to get a feel of the products but the corals seem to respond quite well, especially after adding reef booster. Coloration is also different especially on one of the blue acros I picked up. The base of the coral was a dark brown and had gradually lightened up. It seems that the way its going, it'll be full blue soon. Whether its other parameters or not I guess I won't know.

This is my dosing chart...

prodibiodosingschedule.jpg

And this will be my reference piece, I will post another shot so that you can see the base of the coral and the brown coloration i was talking about...it is now a lighter shade of brown.

BTW i haven't been dosing stronti and Iodi, still haven't received them...below is a picture of the base of the blue acro when i first placed it in the tank. I'll post another shot so that you can see the change....hopefully soon.

I've had a problem with cyano since upgrading my tank. It dissapeared two weeks after I started dosing a product like prodibio. I would guess that the new bacteria & bacteria food has out-competed the cyano for phosphate. Hope you get rid of your Cyano too Melev.

Anyone else notice the effectiveness against cyano?

Chris
