Product warning - Kent scrapers

Kent Pro Scraper replacement blades for acryllic seem to have a new type of plastic that they are made from. The new style replacement blades are more rigid and brittle. We've had a few scratches as a result of their use. Luckily, ours have been on my frag tanks and just one customer's tank in a corner that isn't too visible. Please use with caution.

Safe reefing, friends.

The Kent Scraper blades I recently bought for my 'glass' tank rusted up SUPER FAST. Cheap $#!7 ;P

I should ask my brother and brother in law about it, as they are plastics engineers with decades in the industry. You can bet there are some cheapo fillers going into these plastics resulting in flimsier/lower quality products. But, that is the trend these days with manufacturing being outsourcing to the lowest bidder. Cheaply engineered throwaway products rather than quality durable goods (apparently the pacific needs more throwaway plastic floating in it).

Sorry for ranting. I've had a few 'new' items fail on me over the past few weeks while I was setting up my new system. I bet you can guess what the 'made in' sticker said on those items. Its not only 'reef' items. Nearly everything out there these days is cheap and engineered to be thrown away in 1-2 years. In the end, it isn't -really- as cheap as it seems to be on the surface, especially if you have to buy new over and over and over and over again.

*rant over* :)

Testify.

When you have a brand new package from a product you've trusted over 15 years that says acryllic safe, it better friggin not scratch my customer's tanks.

This does not make me happy and my stock of scrapers is dwindling. So what you're saying is my beloved scrapers are starting to suck?

time to picket the corner across from kent.

I was wondering if I was the only one with this problem , I unknowingly scratched the crap out of my customers tank in one area these new scrapers are horrible I don't know what they were thinking, you would think they would test these out . Time for a new option I suppose. For those who need to buy new plastic blades don't get the new Kent ones they WILL scratch your acrylic

At least we still have Mr Clean Magic Erasers to clean out the scratches. If you own acryllic and do not know about this product, you gotta try it immediately. I was astounded by how well they clean acryllic. 100% safe. I slice them thin and use them as magnet pads. They don't work on coralline algae but if your tank is scratched, it will look like new with very little effort.
