Profilux dosing pumps

just wondering who's using them and are you happy with it?

I'm looking /thinking of getting the 3 stage pump. Getting tired of my calcium reactor.

If you can could you also post a pick or two if you got any.
Thanks.

chudly, are you referring to the stand alone unit or the add-on for the Profilux? I have the add-on and it works very well. But I do not use it for additives. I use it for auto water changes. It can be tuned to very small doses, but I cannot remember the minimum. I can check when I get home this evening, if you want.

One of my friends has the doser by profilux and he loves it. Me personally its a nice unit but to much $$$$$ I am in the same boat as you and I think i found a cheap efficient method with added benefit more then just a doser. I am going to go with 2 of drew's pumps from bulk reef supply and a RKE and on the RKE you can control each pump on a timer. SO not only are you getting a doser but the added RKE. THe liter meter is a nice unit also but the only thing that is a disadvantage and the reason that I sold mine is it only does 50ml minimum so if you don't dose that much you have to dilute with water which I wanted direct calcium and alk because I already have a ATO

If you like the all in one compact design of the profilux stand-alone, I can think of no better way to dose. It's compact size is second to none. If it's compact size and ease of use, precise measuring, and all-in one design is not important for you, one can save more money buying the drews dosing pumps. Factor in the price of a controlling device and the price difference closes a bit.

I have the Profilux stand-alone with 4 pumps and I love it. My CA and Alk have been rock steady. I've used many calcium reactors and I greatly prefer the Profilux.

How much noise does the Profilux pumps make? Are they near silent? I'm current using the Drew's dosing pumps controlled by my AC Jr., while they work fine, they are by no means silent, making a low grinding noise while they are pumping.

Compared to a Liter Meter (for example), they are totally silent. If they're inside a cabinet with closed doors, you will not hear them at all. If you have your ear right next to the Profilux unit and and your tank equipment is completely silent, you can probably discern a bit of noise. If my cabinet doors are shut I can't hear a thing when it's running, even if your ear is next to the door.

Trust me....noise is NOT an issue, even if you're very particular like me.

I went with the Drew's dosing pumps since I already have RK2 to control it. If not, the Profilux would of been my choice. Solid unit!

Forgot to ask if anyone knows what the minimum and the max you can dose with these as it doesn't seem to tell you?

Is the Profilux doser the same unit as this Aquatronica one:

You can get it at Cherry Corals

very happy with mine. i went with the profilux controller specifically because i wanted a controller which worked with a dosing system. if you compare it to buying a good controller like rke, acIII or similar and then add in a calcium reactor the price is very comparable. i will also second the lack of noise. i only dose 60 ml per day per channel. for me it was an easy choice
